Every issue since 2009
Poetry Quarterly is a poetry magazine that has published four issues a year since 2009. A subscription to Poetry Quarterly Online opens the whole run: 47 issues so far, from our first to the newest, holding poems by emerging and established poets from around the world. When issue 48 publishes, subscribers read it that day.

What a subscription includes

Checkout runs through PayPal, and you can pay with PayPal or any major card. Once you have a subscription, you sign in at the member login page whenever you want to read.

Why the archive is for subscribers
The back issues are not on the open web, and that is deliberate. Reader support is what keeps a small poetry journal alive, so the archive belongs to the people who pay for it. Twenty dollars a year is the whole arrangement. There are no tiers to compare and no upsells waiting behind the first page.
Some things stay free for everyone. The issue list is public, and every past winner of the Rebecca Lard Award is published openly on this site, reproduced as it appeared in print.
What subscribers can read
Each issue collects new poems chosen from open submissions by our editor, Glenn Lyvers, who reads every submission personally, together with our editorial staff. Some contributors are widely published; others appear in our pages for the first time. If you want a sense of the standard before you subscribe, read the free award-winning poems. They arrived through the same submissions manager as everything else we print.
And if you write poetry yourself, the submissions manager is open. Plenty of our subscribers are poets first and readers second. We take both kinds.

Every entry to the Rebecca Lard Award ($20 per poem) includes a one-year subscription to Poetry Quarterly Online for new and inactive subscribers. If you were planning to subscribe and enter the contest, one entry covers both.
Prefer print?
The online subscription covers online reading. Paperback issues are a separate purchase through the Prolific Press Bookstore, and the journal is made to be kept on a shelf. Many readers do both: print copies of the issues they love, online access for the rest.
Common questions
How often do new issues arrive?
Four times a year, one per season. Subscribers can read each new issue the day it publishes; there is no delay between the print edition and online access for members.
Do I need an app or a device?
No. The issues are read in a web browser, on whatever you already own. Sign in at the member login page and start reading.
I entered the Rebecca Lard Award. Do I still need to subscribe?
No. Contest entry includes a one-year online subscription for new and inactive subscribers, so your entry already covers your reading.
Does the subscription include printed copies?
It does not. Print is a separate purchase through the bookstore; the $20 covers the full online library for a year.
